The Öfferl bakery in Hietzing establishes a unique spatial identity that responds directly to its refined urban context. Situated near the historic Tiergarten and integrated into the Ekazent, the design elegantly balances the demands of an international audience with the traditions of a local neighborhood hub. By translating the district's distinctive character into a sophisticated architectural language, the space emerges as both strikingly bold and inherently chic. Rooted in a philosophy of material honesty, the interior prioritizes authentic elements to ensure absolute timelessness and spatial clarity.

Materiality

The material palette for Hietzing introduces a warm, tactile dimension by applying light oak to the walls for the very first time in an Öfferl location. This organic foundation is powerfully contrasted by polished Caravaggio quartzite, a striking natural stone used across the service counters and bespoke tables to anchor the room with geological permanence. Visual clarity is achieved through a fine, medium-gray terrazzo flooring that seamlessly unifies the space. The environment is further refined by brushed stainless steel accents and seating upholstered in vegan leather, ensuring a highly tactile and enduring lifecycle. Suspended chrome-finished linear LED lighting illuminates the artisanal process, perfectly underscoring the bakery's high-end material identity.

Light

The lighting concept for the Hietzing location serves as a defining architectural element, meticulously custom-designed to elevate the spatial experience. A striking focal point is the "F3 Quadlight", a suspended installation crafted from chrome-plated aluminum. Featuring a precise arrangement of LED tubes, this pendant structure hovers above the counters to provide dimmable illumination at a warm 3000 Kelvin, perfectly highlighting the artisanal baking process. This overhead centerpiece is complemented by the "F3 Y-Light" wall fixtures, which share the same highly polished chrome finish and technical sophistication. Mounted directly against the light oak paneling, these bespoke Y-shaped luminaires create a captivating material dialogue between cool, technical metal and warm, organic wood. Together, these integrated lighting elements not only ensure optimal visibility but also reinforce the bakery's chic and process-driven aesthetic.
