Öfferl Mariahilfer Straße 9
The Öfferl flagship store at Mariahilfer Straße 9 reinterprets the neighborhood bakery as a dynamic, semi-public space that mirrors the energy of Vienna’s 6th district. Marking a strategic shift as Öfferl’s first self-service location, the design transforms a long, narrow floor plan into an intuitive sequence connecting an open show bakery, generous service counters, and inviting seating areas.
Materiality
The interior is shaped by a monochromatic light gray palette that creates a deep, immersive atmosphere. Super White Quartzite is utilized as the primary natural stone for all high-contact surfaces, including the expansive bartops and custom-designed tables, adding material depth and geological permanence to the space. This natural texture is balanced by the technical clarity of light terrazzo, brushed stainless steel, and corrugated metal panels. The visual identity is further defined by bespoke linear lighting: 36 chrome-finished LED tubes, the "Öfferl X Lights," are suspended above the counters to highlight the process-driven nature of the craft. Authentic, long-lasting materials like vegan leather ensure an enduring lifecycle, while a central natural stone water fountain serves as a democratic design gesture, reinforcing the bakery's role as a high-quality urban meeting point
