Vienna Design Week 2025
Presented at Vienna Design Week 2025, The Resonance Space was a holistic, multisensory installation that transformed a former auto repair shop into an intimate listening sanctuary. Created through a collaboration between Foundation Three, Studio Herrström, and Nocs, the project invited visitors to move through a three-dimensional spatial experience. To define the acoustic environment, Foundation Three built a custom aluminum frame installation to house the Swedish-engineered Nocs Monolith speaker, ensuring that every sonic detail was delivered with precision. The industrial atmosphere was further transformed by a dimmable LED ceiling installation, dark marble, and a custom scent designed to psychologically distance the space from its mechanical past.

Inside, the spatial narrative was guided by STUDIO HERRSTRÖM’s “THE ECHO™” philosophy, featuring an unfolding audiovisual experience that explored sounds from diverse cultures. Visitors interacted with a variety of tactile surfaces, ranging from organic ferns and stones to industrial acoustic foam panels that formed both the walls and a custom-built lounge chair.
Experience
The furniture allowed sound to be physically felt, transforming listening into a visceral, shared experience. To mark the 200th anniversary of Braille, the installation incorporated tactile elements and caption panels developed in collaboration with the Vienna Institute for the Blind, ensuring that the experience was accessible to everyone. Positioned as a "third place," the installation successfully captured "collective effervescence"—the heightened emotional energy of a shared cultural moment.
